Overnight Care
We are not a registered hospital, but in the event that an animal requires treatment overnight, we will either hospitalise at our surgery where a vet or nurse will check periodically through the night or in the event that intensive care is required, Chelvets will admit the pet for overnight care.
Second Opinions/Referrals
Whilst most general surgery and treatments can be performed at the surgery, there are some appropriate specialist treatments that can only be carried out by referral Vets. In the case of referral, your written permission will be sought to share your data with the referral vet. Any treatment will be charged by the referral vet.
Written Prescriptions
Prescriptions are available from this practice for a fee of £18.90 per medicine. Please allow 24-48 hours’ notice when requesting your pet’s repeat prescription.
It is a legal requirement that a patient should be seen for a health check every 6 months to assess that current medicine and dose is still appropriate. The standard charge for a re-examination is £39.37 (as of Jan 2022). Further information on the prices of medicines is available on request.
Payment Terms
All fees are due at the time of treatment. We accept card and cash payments.

At the discretion of the Practice, a direct claim to your insurer may be offered. This will be subject to a written agreement from your insurer and consultation with ourselves.
Estimates
On request, we can provide you with an itemised estimate of the anticipated costs of treatment for your pet, and will always endeavour to contact you if this estimate is likely to be exceeded.
